DOES THIS DUPLICATE SOMETHING WE ALREADY HAVE?
No. Empower Lynchburg pulls data and volunteer information IN. Other resources like 211 push information out to individuals searching for resources. The Poverty to Progress Initiative does not currently have a formalized method of collecting data for engagement or volunteerism. On the backend of this website, the Poverty to Progress team will collect data and track metrics on our progress to goal.
One of the most common requests we receive from citizens is for opportunities to do something instead of talking about this. We have talked, we have come to a shared understanding, and now we are ready to act. The purpose of this platform is to allow you to act.
CAN ANYONE COMPLETE A TASK? WHAT IF THEY DON'T HAVE A COMPUTER?
YES! Every member of our community should have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors. Whether you are rich or poor, new to Lynchburg or a lifelong resident, a student or a retired professional, we can all contribute to this initiative.
If you don't have a computer, this website is mobile friendly! You can access it from any smartphone, tablet, or public computer.
CAN I COMPLETE A TASK WITH A GROUP?
Absolutely! If you find a task that you would like to do with friends, let the task organizer know when they reach out to you. For example, if you would like to serve a shift at the Daily Bread with a friend, let the Daily Bread contact know when they call or email you to schedule your shift.
where can we see the data and outcomes from this platform?
The Poverty to Progress team will release a quarterly outcomes report on the work completed through this platform. We will share the number of tasks completed, the impact created from these completed tasks, and how it contributes to our larger goal.
Please leave us your contact information below so we can add you to the distribution list.
